This report is the 7th edition of the market research of steel grinding balls and equipment for their production in Russia and the CIS.

The market monitoring has been conducted since 2005.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the market of steel grinding balls and the equipment used for their production.

The object of investigation are steel grinding bodies used in grinding in ball mills.

This work is a desk study. As sources of information, the data of the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia (Rosstat), the official statistics of railway transportations of the Russian Federation, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FCS of the Russian Federation), the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Statistics, the State Statistics Committee of the CIS, the UNCOMtrade data, the InfoMine database. The data of the sectoral and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers, Internet sites of producers and consumers of steel grinding bodies were also attracted. Due to the fact that trucking in Russia is not subject to compulsory statistical accounting, in this report only data on the transportations carried out by rail transport are given. In conclusion, certain questions were clarified in the course of telephone interviews with participants of the market of steel grinding balls in Russia.

Chronological framework of the study: 1998-2017; the forecast is up to 2030.

Geography of the study: Russian Federation - comprehensive detailed market analysis; Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan - general market analysis, other CIS countries - a brief description.

Scope of the research: the report consists of 7 parts, contains 258 pages, including 96 tables, 56 drawings, 9 applications.

The first chapter of the report provides an overview of the production technology and the quality requirements for steel grinding balls produced in Russia.

The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of the production of steel grinding balls in Russia in 1998-2017. The section contains data on the volume of production of steel grinding balls in Russia during this period, the dynamics of production is traced, the regional structure of production is shown. Also in the chapter the current condition of the main steel ball producers in the Russian Federation is considered. The data on the production technology and equipment used, the range and quality of products, production volumes, plans for the development of enterprises, as well as detailed data on the volumes and directions of product shipments for 2002-2017 are given.

Also in this chapter the situation in the market of steel grinding balls of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan is briefly considered.

The third chapter of the report is devoted to the analysis of Russia's foreign trade operations with steel grinding balls in 1998-2017.

The fourth chapter examines the export-import supplies of steel grinding balls from other CIS countries in 2005-2017.

The fifth chapter is devoted to the analysis of prices for steel grinding balls in Russia. In this section the prices of the main producers of products on the domestic market in 2005-2017 are given. In addition, an analysis of export-import prices for the period 1999-2017, broken down by suppliers and consumers

In the sixth chapter, the consumption of steel grinding balls in Russia in 1999-2017 is considered. This section shows the balance of production-consumption of this product. In addition, this chapter describes the main consuming industries (iron ore, mining of non-ferrous metals, gold mining, cement and energy) and provides a description of the largest consumers of steel grinding balls in Russia, their development plans, as well as the detailed structure of deliveries of steel grinding balls to these enterprises.

In the final, the seventh chapter of the report the forecast of production and consumption of steel grinding balls in Russia up to 2030 is given.

The address book contains information on the manufacturers of steel grinding balls (Appendix 1), as well as large Russian consumers in the iron ore sector, non-ferrous metallurgy, gold mining, cement and energy industries (Appendix 2).

Appendix 3 contains information on the supply of equipment for the production of Balls LLC "ShPS" to metallurgical enterprises in Russia, CIS countries and the world.

Appendices 4-9 contain information on railway deliveries of grinding balls in 2007-2015 at GOKs for extraction of ores of ferrous, non-ferrous metals and gold, mineral raw materials, construction and energy companies.

The target audience of the study:

  • participants in the market of steel grinding bodies - manufacturers, consumers, traders;
  • potential investors.

The proposed study claims to be a reference tool for marketing services and specialists who make managerial decisions on the market of grinding balls.
