Abstract

As more SMEs introduce BYOD policies, operators should take the opportunity to provide cloud mobile device management solutions and increase revenue from their SME customers.

SMEs are increasingly adopting mobile device management (MDM) solutions as they become more reliant on mobile services and devices, and staff want to use their personal mobile devices for work. Operators should consider providing cloud services for their SME customers to fill the revenue gap left by declining mobile voice and messaging revenue.

This Viewpoint will:

  • discuss Analysys Mason's expectation that SMEs will increasingly adopt cloud MDM solutions as part of an increase in the take-up of cloud services generally
  • set out a number of recommendations for mobile operators, with particular reference to the MDM opportunity, and what they can do to sell these services to SMEs
  • look at AT&T's partnership with MobileIron to provide a cloud-based MDM package for SMEs, and will consider the operator's drivers and pricing strategy, as well as the product's features and channels to market
  • examine the drivers (with particular reference to BYOD environments) and inhibitors to SMEs adopting these services.
