目录

Operators in developed Asia-Pacific should decide on a 5G roadmap that is suited to their own market positions, network resources and market conditions.

5G is the most complex standards activity that the telecoms industry has undertaken but it has the potential to be more disruptive to networks and service planning than LTE was. Asia-Pacific leads 5G development and deployment, and possesses a large and dynamic market with good potential. However, participants in the 5G market need to focus on the business case and models, not just the technology revolution of 5G.

This report analyses the implications for the Asia-Pacific region of the forthcoming 5G standards for:

  • regulators
  • mobile network operators (MNOs)
  • technology companies, such as network and device manufacturers.
