Abstract

" ISPs in Central and Eastern Europe continue to focus on customer acquisition, but the focus in Western Europe is clearly shifting towards customer retention."

This report provides an overview of the key top-level metrics for the European fixed broadband market during the forecast period, such as household penetration, connections by technology and revenue by segment. It also compares the market developments in Western Europe and in Central and Eastern Europe.

The included Excel data annex provides historical data and five-year forecasts of the following metrics:

  • broadband connections, split by technology (DSL, cable modem, residential FTTB and other) and segment (business and residential)
  • broadband fixed sites - the total number of fixed broadband connections, split by segment (business and residential)
  • fixed sites - the total number of households and business sites, used to calculate fixed broadband penetration
  • fixed broadband penetration - fixed broadband penetration for households and small and medium-sized business sites (that is, businesses with up to 500 employees)
  • fixed broadband retail revenue, for each full year, split by technology (DSL, cable modem, residential FTTB and other) and segment (business and residential)
  • fixed broadband average retail revenue per site (ARRPS), per year, split by technology (DSL, cable modem, residential FTTB and other) and segment (business and residential)
  • IPTV fixed sites - number of sites with traditional IPTV services
  • VoIP fixed sites - number of sites receiving VoIP services, split by segment (business and residential).

Figures are provided for Europe as a whole, for Western Europe and Central and Eastern Europe, and for 30 individual countries.
