蛋白质发现会议 - Short Courses

概要 | 短期研讨会 | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

议程(PDF : English)

10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

(SC1) Clinical Plasma Profiling Consortium (CPPC)
The CPPC provides an open forum for the exchange of information on the discovery, validation and clinical appli-cation of blood plasma biomarkers. This year乫s annual meeting will be attended by academic, biotech and pharma scientists interested in sharing their experiences with others and/or learning more about this rapidly developing field. Invited talks will focus on the use of LC-MS in clinical and preclinical studies and will include study design and data analysis as well as biomarker validation with antibody or MRM based assays.

10:00 AM -1:30 PM

(SC2) Protein Folding, Re-Folding and Aggregation

Protein Folding

  • Thermodynamic forces that fold proteins (hydrogen bonds vs. hydrophobic effects)
  • Kinetics of protein folding
  • Analytical methods to monitor protein folding

Protein Aggregation

  • Colloidal and thermodynamic protein stability
  • Basic formulation strategies
  • Analytical methods for monitoring protein aggregation

Protein Refolding

  • Pressure and chaotrope-based refolding methods
  • Designing screening studies to develop refolding conditions

Instructors: Matt Seefeldt, BaroFold
Carlos N. Pace, Ph.D., Texas A and M University
Eva Chi, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry, University of New Mexico

1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

(SC3) Solving Problems in Immunogenicity of Therapeutic Proteins
One of the most challenging obstacles in the expression and production of therapeutic proteins is overcoming is-sues of immunogenicity. This workshop will provide methods of planning ahead to prevent immunogenicity in the finished product, as well as ways to reduce immunogenicity in existing proteins.
Instructors: Phillippe Stas, Ph.D., AlgoNomics
Erik Wakshull, Ph.D., Genentech
Steve Swasson, Ph.D., Amgen Inc.

1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

(SC4) Baculovirus--An Alternative Platform for Protein Expression
Learn about Baculovirus and using the Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS) to quickly and efficiently express proteins. Spend time with experts who will discuss both the advantages and shortcomings of this alter-native platform.
Since BEVS was first introduced in 1982, baculovirus vectors have proven their importance as tools for recombi-nant protein production and as biological control agents.
BEVS also show promise as potential vectors for gene therapy and, due to the inability of baculovirus to propa-gate most human viruses, reduced risk factors that decrease bottom-line costs.
Baculovirus Generated Proteins for Structure Based Drug Design - Lessons Learned
James Groarke, Ph.D., Fellow, DT Protein Stucture, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research Inc.

The presentation will include:

  • Overview of the Baculovirus expression system (BEVS)
  • Advantages/Disadvantages of the system
  • Our processes utilizing the system
  • Case studies (4-5 specific examples)
  • Hi-throughput processes
  • Future Needs & Directions

Baculovirus-Produced Proteins in vivo: An Alternate Approach
George Buchman, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, Chesapeake PERL Inc.

The presentation will include:

  • Overview of protein expression in insect larva
  • In vivo Production: Benefits, Challenges, Solutions
  • Culture-based Expression Optimization and Recombinant Screening
  • Mass inoculation of insects and upstream protein recovery

Case Studies

  • Virus-Like Particles
  • Viral Antigens
  • Difficult Proteins

*Separate Registration Required.
