Abstract
The UK is one of the most competitive broadband markets in the world. However, it is one of the few advanced European markets that has yet to announce a major FTTx initiative. The incumbent operator, BT, and the national government are therefore coming under increasing pressure from a variety of stakeholders to rectify this situation.
