Abstract
This Manufacturing Insights report draws on the results of Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Manufacturing Vertical Market Survey, carried out in 4Q07, among 444 organizations in the manufacturing segment across nine countries in the Asia/Pacific region, out of which 178 respondents were from China and India. The focus of the study is on both business and IT priorities, as well as the initiatives of the China and India manufacturers in 2007-2008.
"In terms of manufacturing IT spending, China and India together spend more than half of the total APEJ manufacturing IT investments. These two countries also represent two important pillars of growth for Asia into the global economy. While differences in strategic approach to IT investment exist between the two countries, the goal is the same - to be able to compete better, faster, and with more innovative products and business models, in the global market. Manufacturers need to prepare themselves with strong innovation, process and information management capability, as well as develop superior collaboration with partners, in order to establish sustainable growth," says Debashis Tarafdar, associate research director, Manufacturing Insights Asia/Pacific.
