"IDC believes that optical transport, routing, switching, video infrastructure, and next-generation access technologies are the critical infrastructure segments needed to meet demands for video distribution as well as growing high-speed access requirements," says David Emberley, research manager, in the Telecommunications Equipment group. "As demand for content drives carriers to accelerate deployments, stability of product, scalability, and flexibility to offer new services quickly will be the deciding factors in a carriers choice of infrastructure provider."
