Abstract
This IDC study explores adoption of devices by small and medium-sized businesses and vendor opportunities. IDC' s 2008
SMB Mobility IT Decision-Maker Survey sought insight from respondents in the United States, Western Europe (represented by Germany and the United Kingdom), and Asia (represented by India and China) on their companies' device, software, operator, and channel preferences.
"As SMBs increasingly adopt converged mobile devices (CMDs), they continue to show sensitivity to pricing and concerns with ease of use," says Timothy Doherty, associate research analyst, Small and Medium Business Markets: Mobility. "Vendors are faced with the task of educating SMBs on not only the work productivity benefits of devices, but also on the personal productivity gains for a segment that is increasingly blurred with the consumer market."
