Abstract
This IDC study examines the worldwide semiconductor growth opportunities in the rollout of WiMAX infrastructure, customer premise equipment (CPE), and client devices. The year 2008 has been identified as the seminal year for WiMAX, based largely on the rollout of WiMAX for mobile computing, which is expected in 2Q08. The infrastructure buildout and CPE products needed to support WiMAX are also under way, with well over 200 worldwide deployments.
"The long-awaited evolution is taking place, and the next year will be quite telling in providing the first hints as to consumers' ultimate interest and acceptance of WiMAX." - Flint Pulskamp, Wireless Semiconductor analyst
